Bancon Construction operates as a contractor covering both new build homes and refurbishment in the public and private sectors.

Bancon Group has a proud tradition of employing apprentices in traditional crafts i.e. Joinery, Bricklaying, Electrical and Plumbing. This not only benefits our company, it benefits the industry as a whole. Our industry needs skilled trades men and women coming through the indentured apprenticeship route on an annual basis to ensure there are no skill shortages in the future.

Bancon Construction has an opening for a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team on a temporary basis for a period of 3-6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out interim valuation’s final accounts.
  • Negotiation, appointment, measurement, payment, and final accounts of subcontractors.
  • Cost and profit monitoring, cost reports, CVR reports and minutes.
  • Contributing to the overall management of each project as required to optimise profitability.
  • Pursuing the issue of certificates and payments when required.
  • Preparing and updating cashflows.
  • Preparing quotations for variations.
  • Site measurement and re-measurement of main contracts and subcontracts.
  • Valuation of variations using the appropriate method to optimise return for the Company.
  • Preparing tender documents such as: invitation to tender, form of contract, bills of quantities, pricing schedules, and performance specifications.
  • Contributing to the procurement of major material purchases/liaising with Buyer when required.
  • Maintaining contact with PQSs and feedback to line manager on potential work opportunities.ortant part of our outreach work with schools and colleges, helping to ensure that industry standard training runs alongside practical work experience and on-the-job learning from skilled crafts people.
  • The ultimate aim of Bancon is to ensure that all apprentices gain the appropriate qualification which will meet the eligibility criteria for registration with the relevant Craft Registration Scheme; Scottish Building Apprenticeship and Training Council (SBATC), SNIPEF or SELECT.
  • We strive to ensure that all apprentices are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to meet the challenges that face the organisation now and in the future.
  • Our apprentice intake is generally annually, with interviews taking place in the month of April.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this position applicants will have:

  • Demonstrable quantity surveying experience within a construction or private housing environment.
  • A degree or suitable qualification in Quantity Surveying.
  • A full UK driving license.
