Due to continued growth across central Scotland and northwest England, Deeside Timberframe, one of the UK’s leading timber frame suppliers, have a fantastic opportunity for an Estimator to join their team.
You will be predominantly based at either our Throsk or Stonehaven premises but will be required to occasionally work from the other location or our office in Warrington.
You will be responsible for all aspects of managing and preparing tender opportunities from main contractors, private developer, commercial and affordable housing sectors, in line with the Company’s business plan and pricing strategy.
The role necessitates the development of close working relationships with long term customers as well as new potential clients, working within a busy Estimating and Sales Department. You will be expected to keep up to date with new products and solutions and maintaining awareness of current raw material prices.
Maintaining a close working relationship with the Sales Team and our clients is a must, whilst at the same time promoting the company in a positive manner.
Primary responsibilities:
- Preparing tender and issuing estimates, including face-to-face meetings with clients and internal team briefings with colleagues.
- Ensuring the accurate interpretation of Sales Team quote briefs and client needs.
- Raise any questions on preparation of tender with Sales Team and/or client and offer solutions to improve costs.
- Ensure estimates are signed off and levels of profit & overhead are agreed by Estimating Manager/ UK Business Development Director.
- Ensure the completion of estimates is updated and visible to management through enquiry tracker.
- Appraise received enquiries from Sales Team.
- Manage time effectively by ensuring tenders are returned on time and any requotes are issued as per client’s requests.
- Identify specification variations and strive to quote accordingly by identifying additional margin opportunities.
- Complete window/external door take offs on some projects for DTL Purchasing Department to be able to accurately procure.
- To complete, where requested, reports on specific projects and estimating reports.
- Provide accurate reports to the Estimating Manager on a weekly basis by phone, email or meeting as required, in conjunction with estimating team.
- It may be required that you work with clients to ensure that any issues from site are dealt with efficiently by DTL – working with Production/Design and Sales.
Skills and experience required:
- Knowledge of industry supply chain requirements
- Planning and forecasting estimates/tenders
- Conversant with Building Information Modelling (BIM) or have knowledge of the procedure
- Knowledge of timberframe specifications and alternative materials
- Excellent team worker
- Self-motivated and able to prioritise own diary
- Ability to handle varied workload under pressure
- Full UK driving license
