Growing up in a council house, I have vivid memories of the biting cold that seeped through the walls during the harsh winters. The icy corners of the windows and the constant struggle to find warmth under layers of blankets are experiences that have stayed with me. It’s astonishing to think that, half a century later, many still endure this same hardship. Families are pouring their hard-earned money into heating homes that are simply not equipped to retain warmth, with the precious heat escaping through poorly insulated windows and doors.
This personal history fuels my passion for retrofitting. It’s not just about upgrading homes; it’s about ensuring that every individual has the basic right to a warm, comfortable, safe living space.
