Bancon was delighted to welcome celebrated architect, author and television presenter George Clarke to our Lochside of Leys development in Banchory, Aberdeenshire. George is widely recognised for his work on popular Channel 4 programmes including The Restoration Man, Old House, New Home and Remarkable Renovations, as well as his efforts to champion innovation and sustainability in the built environment.
George was joined by Jane Wood, Chief Executive of Homes for Scotland, Jamie Tosh, Managing Director of Bancon Homes & Construction and Richard Fawcus, Bancon Partnerships Land director, during a visit that formed part of a significant year for both organisations. 2025 marks Bancon Group’s 50th anniversary, while Homes for Scotland celebrates 25 years of representing and supporting the Scottish homebuilding industry.
The visit offered an opportunity to explore our work at Lochside of Leys and discuss the importance of delivering high-quality homes and sustainable communities. George and Jane spent time with the Bancon team discussing the concept of “home”, current challenges in the housing sector, and the importance of creating attractive, well-designed places for people to live.
The visit also coincided with the Homes for Scotland Annual Lunch & Awards, the industry’s flagship event, which Bancon was proud to sponsor. Held on 30th May in Edinburgh, the event welcomed over 1,000 senior industry leaders and stakeholders to celebrate excellence in Scottish homebuilding.
Jamie Tosh, Managing Director of Bancon Homes and Bancon Construction, commented:
“As we mark our 50th year in business, we are delighted to support Homes for Scotland and its essential work in advocating for increased housing delivery. Sponsoring this event and welcoming George Clarke to our development are both fitting ways to celebrate our commitment to quality, innovation and sustainable construction.”
Jane Wood, CEO of Homes for Scotland, added:
“We are incredibly grateful to have George on-board to support our work and hope that his voice will help to widen the debate on housing by highlighting the importance of what ‘home’ means and the need to build more.”
George Clarke praised the development for its thoughtful design, build quality and strong sense of place – recognition that underscores Bancon’s continued focus on excellence in housebuilding, construction and timber frame solutions.
